Two apprentices from the Piping Industry earned the title of State Champion at the 2015 UA State Apprenticeship Competition held at our very own Piping Industry Training Center last week.
The competition, which ran April 21-23, featured the best of the best apprentices from across the state of Ohio in the plumbing, pipefitting, welding, HVAC-R and sprinkler fitting construction trades.
Defending their home turf and earning top honors in the plumbing and HVAC-R disciplines, respectively, were Don Andrysek and Scott White. The two Piping Industry apprentices showed they have some of the best skills and knowledge in the state.
Winners in the other disciplines were Cleveland’s Jim Primozic (pipefitting) and Brian Price (sprinklerfitting), and Marietta’s Chris Miller (welding).
The five state champions will now take part in the District 2 regional competition in Indianapolis from June 1-5. Those skilled enough to advance out of the regional competition will then vie for the national title.
Since 2007, the Piping Industry has produced 13 State Champions, five of whom went on to become Regional Champions and four National Champions.
The Piping Industry congratulates all who competed. We wish the best of luck to the five champions representing Ohio at the next level – especially those representing the Piping Industry!
