Stroh Center

Along with other members of the Toledo Northwest Ohio Building Trades, the Northwest Ohio Piping Industry broke ground on the Stroh Center, a 4,700-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of Bowling Green State University, in 2009 as the first in a series of new investments in BGSU’s buildings and infrastructure.

The university opted to construct a brand new building when it found its Anderson Arena was becoming increasingly expensive to maintain and operate. The building was also not easily accessible to those with disabilities, and the configuration and acoustics made it poorly suited for graduation ceremonies, concerts and other campus events.

A major goal of the construction was to replicate the intimacy of Anderson Arena, while providing athletes and spectators the modern comforts of a state-of-the-art convocation center.

The $30 million facility opened in 2011 and is now home to the Falcons’ men & women’s basketball and volleyball teams.

BGSU Athletics honored the Toledo Northwest Ohio Building Trades with the “Community Project of the Game”  for our combined work on the Stroh Center. A video recognizing our construction played during the halftime celebration of the Oct. 26 football game between the BGSU Falcons and University of Toledo Rockets.
