Perrysburg’s newest school is beginning to take shape and Northwest Ohio Piping Industry members are using innovative techniques to keep the plumbing and pipefitting work ahead of schedule.

Hull Prairie Intermediate School, located at the corner of Roachton and Hull Prairie roads, is the future home to fifth and sixth graders in the Perrysburg Exempted Village School District.

Three Piping Industry members, currently working for Dunbar Mechanical Inc., are busy installing the building’s plumbing and piping systems.

Their co-workers in the Dunbar fabrication shop pre-fabricated a group of restroom sanitary piping and water lines (shown in the picture below). Pre-fabrication work was created roughly a month in advance and is expected to save two or three days’ worth of work per setup.

The pre-fabricated piping is delivered on a truck and Piping Industry members then wheel the setup into place.

Once in the right spot, clamps supporting the wheels are removed and the setup is lowered into position.

By using this innovative method, time saved by installing these pre-fabricated pieces will keep Piping Industry members ahead of the carpenters, electricians, and other trades once the framing of the inside walls is complete.

Dunbar will eventually have five Piping Industry members onsite doing plumbing, pipefitting and HVAC installation work.

Construction on the $35.2 million Hull Prairie School is slated to be completed by August 2017, just in time for the building to open for the start of the 2017-2018 school year.
