Perrysburg’s newest school is beginning to take shape and Northwest Ohio Piping Industry members are using innovative techniques to keep the plumbing and pipefitting work ahead of schedule.

Hull Prairie Intermediate School, located at the corner of Roachton and Hull Prairie roads, is the future home to fifth and sixth graders in the Perrysburg Exempted Village School District.

Three Piping Industry members, currently working for Dunbar Mechanical Inc., are busy installing the building’s plumbing and piping systems.

Their co-workers in the Dunbar fabrication shop pre-fabricated a group of restroom sanitary piping and water lines (shown in the picture below). Pre-fabrication work was created roughly a month in advance and is expected to save two or three days’ worth of work per each setup.

After being closed for nearly two and a half years, the newly renovated Toledo Zoo Aquarium reopened to the public today, thanks in large part to the members of the Northwest Ohio Piping Industry.

The $25.5 million renovation helped take the aquarium from a 1930s era design into an artistic and sensually pleasing display of marine life. Hundreds braved the cold Toledo weather as they gathered for the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the aquarium, which has been closed since October 2012.

The newly renovated Aquarium is home to more than 3,000 aquatic animals living in about 178,000 gallons of water, which, according to the zoo’s website, is nearly four times the volume as the previous Aquarium.

Homeowners are held liable for any damages caused by pipes freezing or even bursting. Within minutes of a pipe burst, water can travel from upstairs to downstairs, damaging the floors, walls, insulation, and structural integrity of your home.

To prevent pipes from bursting, follow these simple steps to winterize your pipes:

Step 1 – Disconnect all garden hoses.

  • When water freezes inside (or bursts) a hose, it can cause serious damage not only to the hose itself, but also to the interior pipes.
