As highlighted in the Piping Industry's latest video project, dedicated apprentices of the plumbing, pipefitting, HVAC-R and welding trades - as well as our state-of-the-art Piping Industry Training Center - are second to none.
In late April, hundreds of guests, including elected officials, educators, area contractors, industry professionals, and media members filled our Training Center during an Industry Day open house. The event was held in conjunction with the 2015 UA Ohio State Apprenticeship Competition, which featured the best of the best apprentices statewide as they showed off the skills they have learned both in the classroom and on the job.

After being closed for nearly two and a half years, the newly renovated Toledo Zoo Aquarium reopened to the public today, thanks in large part to the members of the Northwest Ohio Piping Industry.
The $25.5 million renovation helped take the aquarium from a 1930s era design into an artistic and sensually pleasing display of marine life. Hundreds braved the cold Toledo weather as they gathered for the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the aquarium, which has been closed since October 2012.
The newly renovated Aquarium is home to more than 3,000 aquatic animals living in about 178,000 gallons of water, which, according to the zoo’s website, is nearly four times the volume as the previous Aquarium.

As part of its annual Engineers Week to celebrate the achievements and regional impact of those in the industry, the University of Toledo recently held an Engineering Career Expo with the Technical Society of Toledo on Wednesday, February 25. The Piping Industry's Brad Mich and Steve Stewart were on hand inside UT's Nitschke Hall to help familiarize professional and student engineers with our organization and the steps we and the Piping Industry Training Center are taking to advance our industry.
“Each year, Engineers Week celebrates the many contributions of engineers to society,” Dr. Steven Leblanc, interim Dean of the University of Toledo’s College of Engineering, said. “Our UT College of Engineering produces top-notch engineering graduates, and Engineers Week allows us to showcase our students. It gives us an opportunity to engage the community and local students in some engineering-related activities.”
