Piping Industry members help complete new downtown Toledo ProMedica headquarters

Thanks to members of the Piping Industry, downtown Toledo has a new major employer, as members helped construct the new ProMedica downtown headquarters along the city’s riverfront.

The $60 million project to consolidate ProMedica’s office buildings began in January 2016. ProMedica held a grand opening celebration on Aug. 31.

At its peak, roughly 20 of the Piping Industry’s highly skilled and highly trained members successfully completed the work on time to renovate The Steam Plant, Promenade Park and the Key Bank building, now called The Junction.

Work progresses at Northwood School

Construction workers are making significant progress on the $33 million Northwood School project.

The combined school, which will be home to all students in the district – kindergarten through 12th grade – is on schedule as crews work to finish the roof, closing off the 136,000 square foot structure from the elements.

During the summer, Northwest Ohio Piping Industry members were busy installing all underground sewer and water lines.

Construction Begins on ProMedica Buildings

The new ProMedica project on the banks of the Maumee River is helping reinvent Toledo’s waterfront.

The $60 million project, which began with site preparation during the winter, will move the headquarters of Northwest Ohio’s largest medical system to downtown Toledo.

Construction crews are working to build a new parking garage on Promenade Park, rehab and expand the Steam Plant and remodel The Junction.

Northwest Ohio Piping Industry members are one of the numerous trades working on the project.

Piping Industry Members Play Large Role In BP Husky’s Biggest Shutdown in 40 Years

Pipefitters and Welders from the Northwest Ohio Piping Industry are playing a huge role in the biggest shutdown at the BP Husky Oil Refinery in 40 years.

Over 1,000 piping journeymen are spending more than two months working to replace valves, pumps, pipes, caps and other items necessary for the oil refinement process.

Shutdowns happen every three to five years at the refinery located in Oregon, Ohio, and generally occur for maintenance, safety, or processing purposes. This time around, the shutdown deals with more than just maintenance and safety. Portions of the extensive work will also add more efficient equipment to the process, which in turn, will help the plant save money and decrease production time.

Construction Of The Andersons World Headquarters Nearly Complete

Work is wrapping up on the $100 million construction of The Andersons world headquarters building in Maumee.

Northwest Ohio Piping Industry members, working for Dunbar Mechanical Inc. and Mondo Mechanical Inc., were among the trade members who built the agribusiness’s new headquarters.

The custom built facility created more than 20 jobs for piping journeymen – including plumbers and HVAC Service Technicians. The plumbers handled the installation of all piping and plumbing work, while HVAC journeymen installed a unique cooling system.
