Piping Industry Partner’s Sponsor Local Race Team

The Piping Industry is proud of its partners at UA Local 50 for supporting local racing in the Toledo and southern Michigan areas.

This year, Local 50 is again the main sponsor for the racing team owned by Landon Schuster. The #118 car races regularly in the Street Stock division at Flatrock Speedway in Michigan.

Eastwood Middle School Students Visit Piping Industry Training Center

Students from Eastwood Middle School recently got an upfront education about some rewarding career opportunities and what it takes to become a member of the Piping Industry on a field trip to the Piping Industry Training Center.

The students had the chance to take an inside look at one of the top training facilities in the region and all its state-of-the-art equipment.

Celebrate Labor Day the Union Way

For many Americans, Labor Day has come to be a last hurrah for summer.

It is a national holiday designed to celebrate the American worker; a holiday earned by union laborers, who fought for an honest wage, better working conditions and shorter work hours.

As Labor Day weekend approaches, many families will be gearing up for one last party on this much deserved three-day weekend off work.

Piping Industry Helps Reopen Toledo Zoo Aquarium

After being closed for nearly two and a half years, the newly renovated Toledo Zoo Aquarium reopened to the public today, thanks in large part to the members of the Northwest Ohio Piping Industry.

The $25.5 million renovation helped take the aquarium from a 1930s era design into an artistic and sensually pleasing display of marine life. Hundreds braved the cold Toledo weather as they gathered for the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the aquarium, which has been closed since October 2012.

The newly renovated Aquarium is home to more than 3,000 aquatic animals living in about 178,000 gallons of water, which, according to the zoo’s website, is nearly four times the volume as the previous Aquarium.

Construction Complete at Holland Kroger

Shoppers in the village of Holland are enjoying their brand new, state-of-the-art Kroger Marketplace this month thanks, in part, to the Northwest Ohio Piping Industry.

Complete Refrigeration, a Piping Industry signatory contractor, was awarded the refrigeration contract for the recently completed, 124,000-square foot superstore.  Six highly-trained and qualified professionals – including 2 apprentices – completed an estimated 27,000 man hours on the project with an estimated valuation of $500,000.
